Outdoor Instructors Training Course

Our 12-week Instructors Course runs in autumn, offering a team of six outdoor enthusiasts or aspiring outdoor instructors the chance to live, learn and develop their experience and skills among the wild mountain and seascapes of Sutherland.

There is no short cut to experience, but with the benefit of the natural environment on our doorstep and with constant and tailored input from our instructors, we can make the very most of the time and to prepare course members for careers in the outdoor industry if that is their ambition.

The course is equally suited to those looking for a career break, to make the most of a GAP year or simply those with a desire to develop their outdoor skills and knowledge in an incredible environment, with other like minded people.

We will focus on mountain walking, rock climbing, open canoeing and sea kayaking. There will be a constant theme of expeditioning and exploration throughout the course.

The 12 week course will work towards and include the following National Governing Body courses;

· Summer Mountain Leader Training
· Single Pitch Award Training
· BCU 2 (and 3) Star Awards
· Foundation in Safety and Rescue Training
· UKCC Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Paddlesports
· Emergency First Aid Certificate

We will also look at bushcraft, survival skills and boatmanship.

Course Cost 2010 Sunday 29 August - Friday 19 November
£5,500 full board
